Spalding's runners in cross country have also earned two ODAC Runner of the Year awards, five ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, three ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels, 31 all-region accolades, 33 All-ODAC citations and one runner has earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He's also had five individuals qualify for the NCAA Championship and one team advance to the NCAA Meet.W&L secured its fifth straight ODAC Championship in 2019, while having a program-best seven runners nab all-conference citations. The title run marks the first time in program history the team has won five straight conference championships. W&L went on to take third at the NCAA South/Southeast Region Championship, with five runners garnering all-region honors, and Spalding was named the ODAC Coach of the Year.

In 2018, the Generals won their fourth straight ODAC championship, which included six runners earning All-ODAC accolades. W&L went on to take fourth a the NCAA South/Southeast Regional. Spalding was again named the ODAC Coach of the Year at the end of the season.


Spalding led the Blue and White to its third straight ODAC title in cross country in 2017, and the team went on to take fourth at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional. At the conclusion of the season, he earned his third straight ODAC Coach of the Year accolade. The Generals had five runners named All-ODAC, which at the time marked the most for the program since 2007, and the team had three individual qualify for the NCAA National Championship.

Smith scored six straight points, highlighted with a dunk, to cap a 23-3 opening run as the Racers built a 62-13 halftime lead. The 62 first-half points matched a program record achieved against Illinois College in 1970 and Berry College in 1995.


The Springfield College baseball team won its fifth straight game at Archie Allen Field on Thursday, defeating Dean 11-0. The Pride jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three innings, and used that to cruise to victory.

Eric Neilson recorded five goals and five assists for his second straight game with 10 points, leading the Chargers to a 20-4 win over American Fork (Utah) on Friday. Jon King posted a team-high seven goals, while Mason Quick also had seven points on three goals and four assists. Saint Anselm improves to 3-1 on the season, having won three-straight games entering Tuesday's 7:30 p.m. road contest at Stonehill. Assumption remains winless in four games played in 2017-18, dropping its first two Northeast-10 Conference tilts of the year.

Landers began his head coaching career at Roane State Community College in Harriman, Tenn., where he led Roane to an 82-21 record and a pair of top-10 national junior college finishes in four seasons.

A goal shall be made when the ball is thrown or batted from the grounds into the basket and stays there, providing those defending the goal do not touch or disturb the goal. If the ball rests on the edges, and the opponent moves the basket, it shall count as a goal.9. When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be thrown into the field of play by the person first touching it. In case of a dispute, the umpire shall throw it straight into the field. The thrower-in is allowed five seconds; if he holds it longer, it shall go to the opponent. If any side persists in delaying the game, the umpire shall call a foul on that side.10. The umpire shall be judge of the men and shall note the fouls and notify the referee when three consecutive fouls have been made. He shall have power to disqualify men according to Rule 5.11. The referee shall be judge of the ball and shall decide when the ball is in play, in bounds, to which side it belongs, and shall keep the time. He shall decide when a goal has been made, and keep account of the goals with any other duties that are usually performed by a referee.12. The time shall be two 15-minute halves, with five minutes' rest between.13. The side making the most goals in that time shall be declared the winner.
